How it works
Understanding the condition

What is plaque psoriasis?

Plaque psoriasis

Plaque psoriasis is a skin condition that causes raised, red, and scaly patches to form on the skin. These patches, called plaques, are often itchy or sore and can appear anywhere on the body, but are most common on the scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back. It happens because the immune system speeds up the life cycle of skin cells, causing them to build up quickly on the surface. This buildup creates thick, flaky patches that might look silvery and feel rough to the touch.
