Study Dermatologists at First OC Dermatology Research are evaluating an eczema study treatment designed for adolescents & adults living with intense itching, dry skin, and inflammation, which may help improve these symptoms.

Study participants may receive a study treatment & study-related care from a study dermatologist along with up to $6,417 in compensation for their study-related time and travel.

What is Mild, Moderate, & Severe Eczema?

This research study is seeking adults with moderate to severe eczema.

Mild Eczema

Small patches of dry, scaly, or slightly red skin that may feel itchy but do not cause significant discomfort. These areas are often confined to specific spots like the elbows, knees, or hands and are manageable with basic skincare.

Moderate Eczema

Larger or multiple areas of red, inflamed, and itchy skin that may feel rough or thickened. Symptoms like cracking or oozing can appear, especially after scratching. This level can disrupt daily life and may need prescription creams or ointments to manage.

Severe Eczema

Widespread, intensely inflamed patches of skin that are extremely itchy, painful, and prone to cracking, bleeding, or oozing. Skin may become thickened or leathery over time due to chronic irritation. This level often disrupts sleep and daily activities, requiring specialized medical medication to manage.

Dr. Vivian Laquer is a local board certified dermatologist from University of California – Irvine Dermatology. Dr. Vivian Laquer is a local dermatologist from University of California – Irvine Dermatology. After graduating from Columbia University Medical School, in New York, Dr. Laquer wanted to return to her Orange County roots and serve her local community. Upon returning to California, Dr. Laquer continued her medical training at the University of California Los Angeles for her preliminary internship in internal medicine and followed with her dermatology residency at University of California Irvine.
