What is gout?
Gout
Gout is a painful form of arthritis caused by a buildup of uric acid in the body. When uric acid forms sharp crystals in the joints, most often in the big toe, foot, ankle, or knee it can lead to sudden pain, swelling, redness, and warmth. Gout flare ups can come on quickly and may last for days or weeks. Without proper treatment, gout can become more frequent and may cause joint damage over time.
